Set in the Tang capital of Chang'an (present-day Xian) during the eighth century, the epic 3D Chinese animation reimagines the lives and lyricism of Tang Dynasty poets Gao Shi, Li Bai, Du Fu, Wang Wei and more. Running at 168 minutes, Chang An is directed by Xie Junwei and Zou Jing, and produced by Light Chaser Animation Studios, the makers of the White Snake and New Gods film series. The film interweaves stories and classical poems of the great poets to depict the rise and fall of Chang'an. Chang'an descends into chaos in the aftermath of the An Lushan rebellion. In the eve of battle, poet and general Gao Shi receives a visit from a eunuch official who came to investigate Li Bai's defection to the Prince of Yong. Gao Shi recalls his many years of friendship with Li Bai, as well as times with other friends like Du Fu.
