Chilsu and Mansu has won many awards, including Best New Director and Best Screenplay at the 27th Daejong Awards, Best New Director at the 25th Baeksang Awards, and Best Actor for Park Joong Hoon at the 9th Film Critics Award. Chilsu (Park Joong Hoon ) quits his job as a theater sign painter when his sister, whose fiance is an American soldier, offers to help him migrate to the States. While waiting, he begins work as an assistant for Mansu (Ahn Sung Ki), whose father is a political prisoner. While Mansu suffers from the shame of his father's imprisonment, Chilsu loses contact with his sister and even gets dumped by his girlfriend Jina (Bae Chong Ok).
